Ain’t she precious?

Life, my dear, is like walking a dog in the middle of a busy park. You’re holding the leash, pretending to be in control, when suddenly the mutt squats right there on the path. Now you’re faced with the classic dilemma: do you pick it up and deal with the mess, or leave it behind and hope no one notices? Spoiler: life always notices.

The thing about dog shit is, it’s inevitable. No matter how much you plan, no matter how perfect your route, that dog will do its business. And here’s the kicker—sometimes it’s not even your dog. Maybe it’s someone else’s mess, left there for you to step in, bag up, and carry like it’s your problem. You didn’t ask for this, but congratulations, you’re stuck holding the bag.

Now, you could leave it there, let someone else deal with it. But here’s where the analogy bites: the moment you walk away, the stench follows you. Someone sees you, someone talks, and suddenly the stink isn’t just on the path—it’s on you.

The smarter move? Bag it up. Not because you want to, but because it’s better to control the mess than let it control you. Sure, it’s unpleasant, and you’ll carry that little plastic bag of regret for longer than you’d like, but at least you’re not the one dragging the stink around for everyone to smell.

That’s life. A never-ending parade of shit, whether you’re stepping in it or scooping it up. The trick isn’t avoiding it—you can’t. The trick is deciding whether you’re going to handle it with grace or let it pile up until it’s someone else’s problem. And if you’re smart, sometimes you leave the bag somewhere strategic. Let someone else take the fall.
